Poetry Night / Zack Rogow + Tess Gallagher + Gary Copeland Lilley

On Thursday, August 4 at 6pm, join Massy ArtsMassy Books, and California-based poet and playwright Zack Rogow for a reading event to celebrate poetry, cycles of life, beauty, meditative perspectives.

At this in-person event, Rogow will present his latest book – Irreverent Litanies (2019, Regal House) – and will be joined by poets Tess Gallagher, and Gary Copeland Lilley to honor literature and the power of words in an intimate night amongst readers.

Books by Zack Rogow will be available in-site, at the Massy Arts Gallery (23 East Pender Street in Chinatown, Vancouver).

This event is free + open to all of our community, and registration is mandatory. The gallery is wheelchair accessible and a gender neutral washroom is on-site.

Covid Protocols: For all in-person events, attendees must provide proof of vaccination, wear a mask (N95 masks are encouraged and recommended as they offer the best protection), and consent to having their temperature checked at the front door. Zack Rogow is the author, editor, or translator of more than twenty books or plays. His ninth book of poems, Irreverent Litanies, was published by Regal House. He is also writing a series of plays about authors. The most recent of these, Colette Uncensored, had its first staged reading at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and ran in London, Barcelona, San Francisco, and Portland. His blog, Advice for Writers, features more than 250 posts on topics of interest to writers. He serves as a contributing editor of Catamaran Literary Reader. 

Tess Gallagher’s tenth volume of poetry, Is, Is Not, was published in 2019 by Graywolf Press. Midnight Lantern: New and Selected Poems, also from Graywolf, is her most comprehensive collection to date. Her other poetry books include Moon Crossing Bridge and Amplitude. Gallagher’s The Man from Kinvara: Selected Stories was published in 2009. She spends time in a cottage on Lough Arrow in County Sligo in the West of Ireland, where many of her new poems are set, and also lives and writes in her hometown of Port Angeles, Washington.

Gary Copeland Lilley is the author of eight books of poetry, the most recent being The Bushman’s Medicine Show (Lost Horse Press), and High Water Everywhere (Aquarius Press). Originally from North Carolina, he now lives in the Pacific Northwest. He has received the DC Commission on the Arts Fellowship for Poetry and is published in numerous anthologies and journals, including The Best American Poetry 2014, Willow Springs, The Swamp, Waxwing, Taos Journal of Poetry and Art, and the African American Review. He is a Cave Canem Fellow.
